Characters
The Hulk first appeared in The Incredible Hulk #1, cover-dated May 1962, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. In this first issue the Hulk is grey, not green — the colour was changed from issue #2 because the grey printed inconsistently. The issue also introduces Bruce Banner, Rick Jones, General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross and Betty Ross. The original series was cancelled after six issues.

According to The Beat's report from New York Comic Con, ICv2's Milton Greipp estimated at Thursday's ICv2 White Paper that comics sales in comic shops are up 19% so far in 2026, with graphic novels up 28%. The Beat notes this comes against even bigger growth last year.

At New York Comic Con on October 8, 2026, Marvel Television announced Zodiac, a live-action spy thriller set to premiere on Disney+ in 2028 and begin shooting in London in spring 2027. Marvel has not yet said which characters it will feature.
