About this copy

Marvel Comics #1 (October 1939, cover-dated) launched Timely Comics — the company that would become Marvel. It introduced the original android Human Torch (Carl Burgos) and the savage undersea king Namor the Sub-Mariner (Bill Everett).

This CGC 4.0 VG copy retains strong cover color and clear interior art. Its Frank R. Paul cover is one of the most recognisable in all of pulp and comics history.

First printings of this issue are distinguished from the later second print. This copy has been verified as an original first print by CGC.
